Breathe

I am numb, frozen.

If I breathe,

I will shatter into a million pieces.

So I keep holding my breath.

I cannot touch, or be touched;

cannot feel,

cannot find my heart.

So I keep holding my breath.

This is a dream from which I will wake,

and they will be here, still.

But it’s not, and they won’t,

so I keep holding my breath

Unable to move forward, or turn back.

There is only Now

and Now is empty.

So I keep holding my breath.
